Our Event Charity Partner – Safe Steps
Safe Steps is the only 24/7 family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a state-wide entry point for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
Safe Steps delivers programs at a state and national level. Their services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, and access to supported crisis accommodation. They also provide specialist counselling nationally through 1800 RESPECT for those affected by domestic, family or sexual violence.
Safe Steps provide services to all victim-survivors and recognise that most of their work is dedicated to the needs of women and children, which reflects the gendered nature of domestic and family violence. They advocate to create systemic change and effective pathways for victim-survivors from crisis to safety and living a life free from violence.
Safe Steps assists women and their children experiencing family violence through their 24/7 phone line (1800 015 188), the provision of emergency accommodation and specialist support services. They help family violence survivors overcome trauma and thrive in lives free from violence. They work towards a community free from family violence through education and social change initiatives.
